Westbank First Nation Tsinstikeptum IR #9 and IR # 10 are fully serviced in most areas with water, sewer and all other utilities. Westbank First Nation owns and operates their own water distribution systems as well as the sanitary sewer collection systems.
On Tsinstikeptum IR # 9 Westbank First Nation's system includes 25 km of various sized water mains, a main pump station, two booster stations, and a 10,000,000 L Reservoir which is compromised of 4 linked cells. On Tsinkstikeptum IR # 10 Westbank First Nation's system includes 7.75 km of water main, one booster system, and a 2,225,000 Lt Reservoir that is currently under expansion that will not only add to the water system it will add an additional capacity of 4,300,000 Lt.
Westbank First Nation uses deep water intakes in Okanagan Lake to supply its water systems. The water from these depths provides excellent quality which meets or exceeds Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines in every aspect. In addition, Westbank First Nation applies primary disinfection by way of chlorination.
To monitor water quality, water samples are collected weekly and bacteriolocially tested at our in-house lab. WFN Utilities works cooperatively with Health Canada to maintain safe and potable water for the community. Once every two years a full chemical analysis of both water systems is completed. Additionally, monthly water samples are collected and tested at an independent accredited laboratory. This is a complete chemical analysis of our raw water as well as our treated water which helps us determine how we treat our water presently and in the future.
On Tsinstikeptum IR # 9 Westbank First Nation's collection system includes 1.5 km of sewer mains and 3 lift stations. On Tsinstikeptum IR # 10 Westbank First Nation's collection system included 6.5 km of sewer main, 1 lift station, and an equalization tank.
Sewer treatment services are provided through a servicing agreement with the Regional District of Central Okanagan.
