Have peace of mind with a full benefits package that supports you and your family. Full-time permanent employees join a group insurance plan that offers extended medical and dental coverage, Medical Services Plan (MSP) coverage, employee and family assistance programs, and more.
An extensive benefits package is offered to part-time and full-time salaried employees and their dependents. Benefits include: Group Health Plan (Vision included); Group Dental Plan (including orthodontic); Life Insurance Plan; Employee & Family Assistance Program; Counselling Services; and a Health & Wellness Allowance to help out with the cost of gym passes and other costs associated with pursuing an active lifestyle. WFN also pays all MSP premiums for the employee and their dependents.
All permanent, full-time salaried employees enroll in a Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) -- an attractive benefit for potential and existing employees looking to save for their retirement. It's never too early to start saving for retirement.
Salaries are divided into fair pay grades based on the Hay Group Job Evaluation Methodology. Jobs are slotted into grades based on job evaluation results and the Hay point ranges set for each grade. This method eliminates bias and supports equity principles. With the understanding that job roles change as employees are tasked with new and more challenging responsibilities, salaries are reviewed near the end of each fiscal year. There is opportunity for salaries to increase with continued performance. The performance review will provide supervisors and employees an opportunity to discuss their responsibilities and update job descriptions. Employees are fairly compensated for the hard work they contribute to helping make WFN a successful government.
The new Health & Wellness Allowance established in 2014 assists eligible staff with the cost of pursuing an active lifestyle, by reimbursing 50 percent of the cost (up to $300) of gym passes, fitness equipment, etc. Staff also have access to free Bootcamp and Yoga classes at WFN's Community Services building, as well as the WFN gym facility. Staff can also attend Lunch & Learns, where qualified practitioners (Dieticians, Naturopaths, Fitness Instructors, etc.) present on various health initiatives and opportunities.
Eligible employees are entitled to 10 days paid vacation during their first year at WFN. The number of paid vacation days increases after subsequent years of employment. Eligible employees also benefit from additional paid leave policies, including: sick leave, bereavement leave, and family responsibility leave, as well as, 12 paid statutory holidays per year.
WFN has a comprehensive Personnel Policy. Recently implemented are the Respectful Workplace and Duty to Accommodate Policies, which ensure a healthy work environment is maintained and that staff receive adequate accommodation during personal challenges. The Family Responsibility Leave meets responsibilities related to the health care or educational needs of a dependent family member.
