Councillor Brian Eli

From
1998-2002 Eli served as the elected Chief of Westbank First Nation
contributing significantly to the membership including:
-
Established
objectives for WFN to determine programs in accordance with
government policy and in conjunction with government committees,
directors, and elected councillors.

Advised
senior representatives on policy questions and referred any
major policy matters to these representatives for their final
decision
-
Provided
budgetary control through implementation of appropriate systems
and procedures
-
Presented
to legislative and other government committees regarding policies,
programs, and budgets
In
2003, Eli was appointed the Community Liaison for Chief and Council
of Westbank First Nation acting in the field of communications including:

Develop,
implement and evaluate communications strategies and programs
to inform community, employees, and the general public of initiatives
and policies of the WFN Self Government Agreement
-
Gather,
research, and prepare material for internal and external audiences
-
Review
public opinion and attitude to identify the interests and concerns
of key groups in the WFN
-
Prepare
or supervise preparation of reports, bibliographies, speeches,
presentations, web sites, and press releases
-
Represent
WFN as spokesperson and respond to written and oral inquiries
Councillor
Brian Eli brings his experience as a Construction Manager to the
community specifically in the field of land development. He has
represented Westbank First Nation in many aspects of this area including:
-
Plan,
organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects
from start to finish according to schedule, specifications,
and budget
-
Prepare
contracts; negotiate with architects, consultants, clients,
suppliers and subcontractors
Brian
Eli’s mandate continues to remain focussed on enhancing the quality
of life for members by improving education programs and medical
plans for the single and elderly of the membership.
