Councillor Christopher Derickson is currently serving as Councillor for the 2016-2019 term. He was first elected in the 2012 by-election to represent the community for the remainder of the 2010 to 2013 term, and was re-elected by the community in 2013 and again in 2016. He is currently an EMBA candidate, which he plans to complete in 2017.
Chris is the son of Raymond and Carol Derickson, and the grandson of the late Richard and Caroline Derickson, and Art and Esther Potts of the Samson Cree Nation. He is married to Jordan Derickson and has a 20 year old son, Justin.
Christopher’s mandate is that, in all that Westbank First Nation does, and will do, it is the people that matter the most and he works to ensure that Members are informed and included.
Prior to being elected, Councillor Derickson has been involved in serving the community for the past 16 years in the following capacities:
Over the past 25 years, our leaders have turned Westbank First Nation into a strong, dynamic, and prosperous self governing First Nation. Building on this success, Councillor Derickson believes that, together, WFN can move toward the vision of building a strong, healthy, and progressive community, where members continue to come first in all WFN does while maintaining the Okanagan people's identity.
