WFN Youth Programs WFN Community Services delivers programs and services to support the well-being of community members. Starting January 2017, all youth programs will be held at the new WFN Youth Centre, located in the Community Core at 1880 Quail Lane.
Meet new friends and participate in a ton of fun activities and programming as outlined below. Get involve din art projects, workshops, and hikes, just to name a few. You also have time to just hang out watching movies and playing video games.

Early Years Programs
The Youth Centre is open Monday through Friday, 4:00 to 9:00pm. All activities and times are subject to change without notice. Youth are responsible for their own rides home. Out trips have limited space and are on a first come basis. After-school pickup at CNB @ 3:30pm and MBSS at 3:45pm is available. Space is limited, however, and available on a first come first served basis. For more information about programs, contact the Youth Leaders at 250-768-4838.
WHERE: WFN Youth Centre, 1880 Quail Lane, Westbank, B.C.
All youth aged 12 to 18 are welcome to the Youth Centre to socialize and engage in a variety of activities.
Youth from the community are all invited, whether they are WFN members or youth living within Westbank First Nation.
WHEN: Meet first Wednesday of the month | 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. | September to June
LOCATION: Community Services Boardroom
Open to youth ages 14 to 24 who are either WFN Members, Aboriginal youth, or children of a WFN Member.
Mission: Guide youth in taking a positive, more prominent role in the community by promoting unity, leadership skills, and independence.
Goal: Empower youth, given them a voice in the community, build confidence, and promote the development of future leaders.
Great prizes, great food, and great friends!
As of September 2015, the program is full with two alternate positions.
WHEN: Every Monday and Thursday or as needed | 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Come to the Youth Center for a quiet place to work on your homework without distractions. Youth leaders are on hand to help, and there is an abundance of homework supplies available if needed.
WHEN: Mondays | 3:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Open to girls ages 9 to 12 who are WFN Members, Aboriginal youth, or community members living within Westbank First Nation.
This program encourages the development of strength, courage, confidence, honesty and communication skills for girls. The goal is to enhance girls’ abilities so that they are able to take full advantage of their talents, academic interest, career pursuits, and potential for healthy relationships.
Topics covered: self-esteem, body image, practical skills, boundaries, friendship, anger and physical fitness.
WHEN: Wednesdays | 8-week program starting in October | 2:45 to 4:00 p.m.
Open to WFN Members, Aboriginal youth, and community members living within Westbank First Nation.
The 2BBoys program is designed to assist boys ages 9 to 12 in connecting to their true selves in an empowering, respectful, healthy, and dynamic way. The program focuses on building skills to help boys excel socially and emotionally.
WHEN: Monday to Friday | 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Open to WFN Youth who hold a valid Learners License and who can contribute a portion of the fee.
The Driver's Training Program is a partnership between Westbank First Nation and Westside Driving School. The program helps new drivers gain the confidence and skills required to become properly licensed drivers under the graduate licensing program.
WHEN: Thursdays | September to June | 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Come out to the Youth Centre for a fun session and learn basic cooking techniques and a variety of healthy recipes from moose stew and bannock to spaghetti and Caesar salad.
WHEN: Tuesdays | Fitness 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. | Movie 6:15 to 10:00 p.m.
Youth fitness is an exciting and fun way for youth to get out and be active. There are all kinds of ways to be fit and active, and these different classes will be explored throughout this program. At the end of all that hard work, the youth can sit back and enjoy a movie. Youth must attend the Youth Fitness session to participate in Movie Night, so come out and have an active and entertaining evening!
WHEN: Saturdays (seasonal) | 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Open to WFN Members
The team will work with an instructor to hone their skills, which will lead to more advanced training and higher-level competitions. To ensure each athlete reaches their full potential, 90% attendance is mandatory. A $200 deposit is required at the start of the season.
WHEN: Saturdays | January to March | 8:00am to 4:00pm
WFN Members with passes to Big White may get a ride up to Big White in the Youth/Rec Van and head up for a day of boarding or skiing. Ages 12+ are welcome to attend, and while the program is intended for WFN Members, community members may catch a ride on the bus if space permits. There is some equipment available to borrow on a first come first serve basis. Any associated costs while at Big White are the responsibility of the individual.
Register by the Thursday before to reserve a seat.
WHEN: Wednesdays (weather/snow permitting) | December to March | 4:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
WHERE: Either WFN Community area or Telemark Nordic Club
Youth/Rec has nine sets of snowshoes that may be borrowed on a first come first served basis. Protein bars and water will be provided. We will hike around our community or go up to Telemark.
WHEN: Fridays | January to March | 4:20 p.m. pick up / 9:40 p.m. drop off
WHERE: Pick up at Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot (Lake Okanagan Shopping Centre)
COST: There is no charge for lift tickets, but youth must rent their own equipment at Big White if needed.
Open to WFN Members.
Borrow snowboard equipment from the WFN Youth/Rec Department if needed. Please bring all appropriate winter gear.
