Westbank First Nation produces many publications both to inform the community and public, as well as to guide decision making. Review them below.
The WFN Annual Report, typically published in September each year, outlines some of the key annual accomplishments and highlights of the WFN government and administration, as well as provides an annual financial overview.
During the 2015/16 fiscal year, WFN was busy with a number of key capital projects, including completion of Sneena Road, an additional 700 metres of sidewalks and lighting in the community, upgrades to the Community Core, and the construction of the new Youth Centre.
The Comprehensive Community Plan, first implemented in 2010 and revised in 2015, guides growth, development, resource management and community planning within the reserve lands and traditional territory of Westbank First Nation. It reflects to vision that WFN Members have for their community, lands, and resources.
The Westbank First Nation Constitution, which has undergone three amendments since implementation, provides a vision and foundation to guide the social, economic, political and community development of WFN, and principles include Aboriginal Rights and Title, and Preservation of Land, Resources and Culture for Future Generations.
The Government Strategic Plan outlines Westbank First Nation's mission, vision, values, and priorities, based on the aspirations of the community, and guides Council in its decision-making.
A Membership Newsletter is curated and mailed out to the Membership monthly. Newsletter content typically includes a Chief's message, Council meeting highlights, department updates on recent projects and initiatives, WFN employment opportunities, a monthly events calendar, general announcements, and submissions from Members.
The Parks & Trails Master Plan guides the development and maintenance of parks and open spaces. Content includes: Westbank First Nation Today, Parks and Trails Vision, Parks, Trails, Management, Implementation Plan, and an Appendix that includes a Community Consultation Summary, Demographic Analysis, Trail Design Standards, and a Proposed Park Zone.
The Quarterly Council Reports, developed for Members' information only, outline Chief and Council's recent activities and initiatives.
