Community core multi-use park design workshop

Community members are invited to come out to the WFN Youth Centre on Wednesday, November 22 to learn about the proposed Community Core Multi-use Park and meet the design team. This community project is part of the phased upgrading of the Community Core.

The new park will include a number of outdoor recreational facilities and amenities for court-based sports, wheeled action sports, gathering spaces and other opportunities. The final design will be a product of community consultation and design development.

This meeting will provide background and insight into the project and include an interactive workshop to share your ideas with the design team.

The image below is a preliminary concept and illustrates one of many approaches and terrain assortments that could be pursued in the community core. The final design will be a product of community consultation and design development.

Background

In 2016, community members shared ideas and knowledge regarding how the site next to the Youth Centre should be used. Opportunities for feedback included social media; bulletin boards posted at the WFN Government building, Health & Wellness building, and Public Works office; and an online survey. Initial ideas brought forward by Members included a skateboard park, multi-sport court (hockey, basketball, lacrosse), outdoor hockey, a swimming pool, and a water park. The final design will be based on further community consultation and budget.
