Did You Know...
As of February 2014, WFN has 786 members, compared to 696 members in March 2011. The growth in Membership can be attributed to the 2011 amendments to the Indian Act as a result of Bill C-3 Gender Equity in Indian Registrations Act. The changes introduce by Bill C-3 allow eligible grandchildren of women who lost Indian status as a result of marrying non-Indian men to become entitled to registration (Indian Status) in accordance with the Indian Act.
