This program assists students who are registered in public or private schools, within the boundary of School District No. 23, who are not eligible to ride on the SD#23 bus. This applies to students registered in a school that has specific programs that will enhance education goals, talents, or skills, (e.g. French, sports, art, trades, religion, alternate programs, etc.). The student must write a letter to the Manager of Education Services requesting a student bus pass.
This 14-week life skills program is delivered up to three times a year to WFN Income Assistance clients or under-skilled clients. Students learn basic personal development and employment-ready skills to prepare for future employment or education. Topics include healthy eating, food preparation, resume writing, basic math and English classes, job interview preparation, Food Safe certification, and basic first aid certification. The curriculum is based on student intake and needs; therefore, changes to each session may apply.
