WFN Recreation is an animated part of the Westbank community, offering a variety of facilities which include a multi-purpose room, weight room, a full kitchen, Pine Stadium and Shannon Lake ball fields, soccer fields, lacrosse box, a youth center, as well as one of the largest gymnasiums in the Okanagan . Programs offered include drop-in baseketball, ball hockey, ski/snowboard club, kids spring and summer camps, and youth drop-in sports.
As well as hosting several special events each year including conferences and workshops, the Advisory Council AGM, the WFN AGM and WFN Membership meetings, the Recreation Department also hosts many tournaments such as the Okanagan Wrestling Tournament and karate, softball and basketball tournaments.
One of the many strengths of the Recreation Department is its collaboration with other WFN departments, community groups and organizations. The recreation team also prides themselves on providing the community with whatever assistance they can, whether it's ensuring guests a quality visit to one of our many facilities, or being a contributor to the success of staff initiatives and community events. Some of the many groups we work with include Westside slow-pitch-orthodox fastball leagues, Westside Minor Soccer, softball, football, baseball and hockey, Okanagan Ladies Fastball League, School District # 23, Okanagan Nation Alliance, local businesses and individual community members.
The WFN Recreation Department is always looking to improve its programs and services to meet the needs of the community and to ensure quality recreation activities on a consitent basis. Your feedback is welcome.
