Councillor Mic Werstuik

Councillor Werstuik served as an elected official for Westbank First Nation from 2000 to 2007. He was re-elected by the Membership for the 2010-2013 term. Mic and his wife Nicole are both members of Westbank First Nation. They reside on reserve lands and have two children, Saige and Wade.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In 2005, Mic served as a Council Member under the new era of self-government. There were many changes and transitions that followed this historic move for Westbank First Nation. During this time, Mic:

• Participated in self-government negotiations
• Worked diligently to implement the Westbank First Nation Constitution and other Westbank First Nation laws
• Helped to establish committees to address policy development
• Was an active member of the community

• Forestry Consultant
• Southern Interior Beetle Action Coalition (SIBAC) - Co-manager

This organization was established to develop recommendations for governments to mitigate the impact of the Mountain Pine Beetle on forestry dependent communities, both First Nation and non-First Nation.
