Two Westbank teams win Canadian Native Fastball Championship divisions
It was a winning weekend for two Westbank fastball teams, the Westbank Jewels and Westbank Cardinals, that competed at the Canadian Native Fastball Championships in Prince George from July 29-31, 2016.
The Westbank Jewels played in the women's master division and finished the tournament undefeated, after having played some nail-biting, tense games. The team edged out the KoKo QTs of Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan in the final with a 7-6 win.
The Westbank Cardinals, for the second consecutive year, placed first in the men's senior division. They were also undefeated, finishing the final game with a 5-2 victory over the NB Petro Hawks of Regina, Saskatchewan. This was the third National Championship victory in four years for the Cardinals.
Many of the players from both teams took home individual awards.
