On April 29, BC Hydro will be holding an Open House at Shannon Lake Golf Course to share details about planned distribution upgrades that will improve the reliability of the power system serving homes and businesses on the Westside.
The project includes:
-
Installing approximately 3 km of new underground power lines from Shannon Lake Road to Daimler Drive along Old Okanagan Highway
-
Upgrading approximately 4 km of existing overhead power lines along Daimler Drive; East Boundary, Ross, and Brentwood Roads; and on Hudson Road toward Boucherie Road
Construction is expected to begin in mid-2025 and continue through to the end of 2027. BC Hydro will continue to work closely with Westbank First Nation throughout all phases of the project.
Additional open houses are planned for Fall 2025, where updates will be shared on related initiatives, including:
-
Westbank Substation Upgrade Project, which will expand the substation and replace aging equipment
-
West Kelowna Transmission Project, which proposes a new transmission line to improve power supply to West Kelowna, WFN, Peachland, and parts of Summerland
