Westbank First Nation (WFN) is requesting letters of interest for the Sensisyusten House of Learning Board (School Board) WFN Member Parental Representative seat. Applicants must be of good character, credibility and reputation, not be an employee of Sensisyusten House of Learning (School), and provide written consent to a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search. Applicants who have contracts or other arrangements under which they currently receive, or may receive, payment or another benefit from the School must disclose those in their application.
“Parental Representative” means a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or Guardian of a student currently enrolled at the School. Parental Representatives must have the consent of the student’s parent or Guardian, if applicable. If your child is registered to attend Sensisyusten in September 2026, you are eligible to apply. applicants
The School Board is established to develop the governing principles that will contribute to a healthy learning environment, ensure the development of educational programs that enhance academic, personal, social, and cultural growth, and ensure that syilx values, language, teachings, and culture permeate key aspects of the programs and operations of the School.
The duties and responsibilities of the School Board are to fulfill the requirements outlined under Agreement 2016-04 Sensisyusten House of Learning Board Terms of Reference (Agreement 2016-04), which include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Acting in an advisory role for Council on matters pertaining to the School.
- Developing a three (3) year strategic plan for programs and operations at the School.
- Working within the WFN budgeting framework to assist in the development of an annual budget for the School.
The successful candidate will be appointed by Council resolution for a three (3) year term and be paid an honorarium for each duly convened meeting attended, in accordance with the provisions under Policy 2024-05 Board Remuneration (Policy 2024-05). School Board members are also encouraged to attend semi-annual meetings with Council as well as various other events that may happen throughout the year to carry out School Board responsibilities.
