Westbank First Nation (WFN), in partnership with the Greater Westside Board of Trade (GWBOT), is pleased to announce the launch of our 2025 Business Walk and Survey. This initiative provides an important opportunity to connect directly with businesses on WFN lands and help create a supportive environment where local businesses can thrive.

Celebrating Small Business Week

We are conducting our Business Walk tomorrow morning during Small Business Week in Canada. The timing highlights the vital role small businesses play in our community and across the country.

Business Walk – Tuesday, October 21, 2025

On the morning of Tuesday, October 21, small groups of representatives from WFN Economic Development staff, WFN Council, and the GWBOT Board and staff will visit approximately 50 randomly selected businesses on WFN lands. Each visit will take about five minutes, during which the business walkers will ask a few short questions to the business owner or manager.

If the business lead is unavailable, or you prefer to participate online, the survey link is available here.

Business Survey – Open Until October 25, 2025

The Business Survey is now open and available to all businesses located on WFN lands, including retail, manufacturing, contractors, suppliers, home-based businesses, professional services, financials institutes, and more.

We ask that one response per business be completed by either the owner or a manager. The survey can be completed online, and includes the option to request follow-up support from WFN’s Economic Development team. As an added incentive, all participants who complete the survey will be entered into a draw to receive a complimentary WFN business license for the upcoming year.

Why Your Participation Matters

Feedback gathered through the Business Walk and Survey helps WFN and our partners:

·         Better understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities facing businesses on WFN lands.

·         Identify barriers to growth such as workforce, space, or operational costs.

·         Strengthen services and supports available to the local business community.

·         Ensure WFN remains a welcoming and attractive environment for investment.

Commitment to a Strong Business Community

WFN is committed to supporting and growing a vibrant local economy. By participating in this year’s Business Walk and Survey, businesses are directly contributing to shaping future economic development efforts. Results will be compiled, analyzed, and shared to inform ongoing initiatives and to strengthen the business environment on WFN lands.
