Kidney disease screening offered April 12
The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC and Yukon Branch, alongside Westbank First Nation, will offer a free screening opportunity on April 12, 2018 for those who are at risk of kidney disease.
At-risk individuals include those to which one or more of the following applies:
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Family history of chronic kidney disease
- Aboriginal, Asian, South Asian, South Pacific, Hispanic, African, or Caribbean ancestry
- Problems with kidneys
- Those between the ages of 19 to 75 years who also have one of the above at-risk factors
Testing includes: Urinalysis, blood glucose (random), weight, blood pressure, and two kidney function tests with the StatSensor machine.
Testing is confidential and free and will take approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Participants provide a urine specimen upon arrival to the event. All test results are reviewed by a Registered Nurse and provided to the participant.
