Westside Point in Time Homeless Count

In coordination with community agencies and volunteers, Westbank First Nation (WFN) and the City of West Kelowna (CWK) led a Point-in-Time (PiT) homeless count for the Westside on July 23, 2018.

The project represents an initial commitment of both organizations taking a community-first joint approach to solving the homelessness obstacle on the Westside. 83 individuals were surveyed at various Westside locations with at least 72 people indicating they were currently experiencing homeless. The survey notes 61% were Indigenous, and over 50% were between the ages of 25 to 44.

WFN and CWK plan to build on their community-first partnerships and the success of this initiative.
