sənsisyustən House of Learning, Virtual Learning in Effect February 2, 2021

January 31, 2021 - Per direction of the Westbank First Nation, sənsisyustən House of Learning will resume virtual lessons this week on February 2, 2021.

This is being done on a precautionary basis to keep our Nation members and school community members safe as the Nation and community is experiencing an increase in COVID-19 case numbers. With the number of intergenerational families in our school, we are putting safety and health first in regard to in person learning.

We will be streaming our lessons starting Tuesday, February 2, for the duration of the week. While we are planning to reopen for in class learning on Monday February 8, this is still to be determined with further information to come later this week.

***Monday, February 1 will be a day for teachers to prepare for the virtual classrooms so there will be no lessons on this day.

Virtual lessons, with morning and afternoon sessions, will start on Tuesday, February 2 to Friday, February 5. More details on the schedule will follow shortly but expect the opportunity to connect virtually for an hour and a half in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon each of these days. In addition, language and culture will also be shared virtually each day in a school wide session.

Teachers will contact you on Monday, February 1, with a schedule of times and links to be able to access the virtual classrooms. It will be similar to our virtual time following the Christmas break.

If you do not get a message from your child’s teacher on Monday by 1:00 pm, please call the school to let us know.

If you require technology to allow your child to attend virtually, please contact the school to arrange. We do not want anyone to miss out on this.

We apologize for the short notice but do this for the safety of our students, families, Elders, and staff.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please call the school during regular hours this week.
