WFN Launching new digital engagement platform - smy̓may̓WFN

April 22, 2022 - smy̓may̓WFN, WFN’s new digital Member engagement platform, by bangthetable.com, will be live on April 25, 2022. 

It's purpose is to build a stronger WFN community through meaningful Member engagement.

Utilized by 300+ communities across 18 countries including many Indigenous governments and organizations such as Squamish First Nation, Tŝilhqot'in National Government, Stó:lō Xwexwilmexw Treaty Association, Naut’sa Mawt Tribal Council, Council of the Haida Nation and Haida Gwaii, Haíɫzaqv Nation, Nunatsiavut Nation and Indigenous Clean Energy.

Benefits of smy̓may̓WFN:

  • Provides a central location for Membership information and updates
  • Easy to navigate and organized by project
  • Provides enhanced opportunities for sharing information and engaging with Members
  • Helps guide WFN in making community-informed decisions 
  • Secure, private, and not open to the public oAccessible via individual logins
  • status numbers are required to verify Membership
  • Removes barriers to participation oprovides a voice to:
  • off-reserve Members
  • those unable to attend meeting
  • non-social media users
  • Departments and Staff
  • Connects Members with appropriate Staff including headshot/photos to get to know one another better and build a stronger sense of community

Streamlines Member engagement and includes built-in features such as:

  • GIS mapping and pin dropping options
  • Newsfeed and Project Timelines
  • Surveys and Polls
  • Story-telling feature
  • Ideas tool
  • Who’s Listening tool
  • Online workshop options
  • Provides e-notification options for Members (email-only, SMS/text will be available in the future), examples:
  • subscribe to be notified of upcoming meetings and information
  • subscribe to be notified of specific project updates
  • subscribe to be notified of community programs

In order to ensure all Members have equal opportunity to provide input and receive information digitally, and in an effort to centralize digital engagement with Members, the private Member Facebook page will officially close on May 25, 2022.

This decision was made based on significant Member engagement regarding WFN communications and tools, including:

  • 106 responses to a communications engagement survey
  • 484 responses to four online quick polls
  • January 11, 2022 – Elders Visioning Session
  • February 15, 2022 - Member Discussion
  • February 17, 2022 - Dialogue with Youth Council •
  • February 24, 2022 - Youth Trivia Night
  • March 8, 2022 - World Café Member Discussion Smy̓may̓

WFN will continue to provide a place for online Member discussion and will help keep topics and feedback organized and accessible to all WFN Staff and Departments.We will be launching the platform with a few projects for easy navigation and will continue to add new projects as they develop.
