FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sncəwips Heritage Museum to unveil sculpture of logo
The Sncəwips Heritage Museum will unveil their new logo, sculpted by Okanagan First Nation metal works artist Clint George, Monday, July 18, 2016. The logo, designed by Westbank First Nation (“WFN”) Member Coralee Miller, was released in 2015 following acommunity logo design contest.
It depicts nx̌aʔx̌ʔitkʷ, the spirit of the lake, in an arch that represents the housing of Westbank FirstNation’s art and artefact collections. The eight small circles inside the arch represent the eightcommunities comprising the Okanagan Nation. The waves reflect the Museum’s connection to WestbankFirst Nation and also pay homage to Coralee’s family members, Mary Derickson and Sherry Hamilton, who collaborated to design WFN’s logo back in 1992, which is still being used as by WFN as its officiallogo today.
