WFN Eases COVID-19 Restrictions for Landlords and Tenants

In recognition of the easing of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Westbank First Nation (WFN) Council has rescinded their April 6, 2020 resolution related to landlord and tenant relief, and adopted the following relief measures until further notice:

a)Rent increase notices can be served, but the enforcement of rent increases cannot occur;
b)A Notice to End a Residential Tenancy can be issued except for non-payment or late payment of rent or utilities, or non-payment of an issued monetary order;
c)Landlords may apply to the Residential Premises Administrator (RPA) to end a tenancy earlier than 30 days if it would be unreasonable or unfair to the landlord/other occupants to wait, or where necessary to protect health and safety, or to prevent undue damage to the property.

WFN Council and staff will continue to monitor the current pandemic situation as it relates to tenancy matters. Tenants and Landlords are encouraged to contact the WFN RPA to support greater understanding of these changes
at tenancy@wfn.ca or call the government office to leave a voicemail at 250-769-4999.
