Continuing Care

Previous PageNext Page
The future of Elder care in our community ties in with continuing care. Continuing care includes Elder care and other needs within the community related to healing, including alcohol and drug recovery, emergency housing, family support and counselling, pre and post-treatment. These needs are fluid and will continue to change to best serve our Members.

Continuing care is a priority and the vision moving forward is centered around ensuring we provide services that meet the needs of our Members. We want to make this happen by directly involving Members in the process and asking you to identify our continuing care needs. We know we have challenges with addictions and mental wellness, but we also know that much of what our Members experience are symptoms of the trauma that continues to be experienced, and we need to address the root of these issues. The path forward must be trauma-informed and have a foundation built upon our cultural ways of healing, acceptance, and inclusion.

In order to ensure our continuing care needs are understood and met, we will be establishing a continuing care working group. This working group, compromised of interested Members, will help in developing the future of continuing care in our community.

The working group will be led by Jo-Ann Derrickson, with plans for the first meeting to take place this summer. Those interested in participating, or looking for more information, can contact with Jo-Ann via email at sumeeq@wfn.ca
