Title and rights: Gathering knowledge for traditional use study
Our WFN Community Research Team, with support provided by Kwusen Research & Media (our Traditional Use
Studies consultants) have been conducting interviews and mapping traditional use with some of our Elders and
knowledge holders. We have a total of 16 new interviews recorded and transcribed.
This traditional use study is being conducted for the BC Hydro West Kelowna Transmission Project. The goal of
the study is to understand the impacts this additional transmission line could have on community members’ land
use.
There will be a follow up workshop in March. At the workshop community members who were interviewed will
be invited to come together and verify the information we recorded. A discussion of potential project effects will
take place to make sure the concerns and effects are summarized for BC Hydro.
