Representing non-Member Residents Residing on Westbank Lands

Westbank First Nation (WFN) enacted the Advisory Council Law on April 1, 2005 to provide Non-Members living on Westbank Lands, or having an interest in Westbank Lands, with a mechanism through which they may have input into proposed Westbank Law and proposed amendments to Westbank Law that directly and significantly affects them. The law provides for the establishment of five Advisory Council members, comprised of residents from each of the five districts. WFN residents vote to elect Councillors to the Advisory Council, while WFN Members vote to elect a Chief & Council.

2022 By Election Results

Congratulations to Terry Turcan who was nominated and elected to represent the Prairie District. Nominations have now closed and as per section 21.14 of the Westbank First Nation Advisory Council Law, Terry has been successfully elected.

RDCO Elections

Not only are residents of Westbank Lands represented by their Advisory Council, but they are also represented by the elected representative of Central Okanagan West through the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO). Due to this unique relationship,  residents of Westbank lands are eligible to vote in scheduled elections for the (RDCO) that occur every four (4) years. As WFN holds a service agreement with the RDCO, taxation dollars are expended for the mutual benefit of both bodies to best support the residents they serve. It is important that residents are aware of their rights, and ability to vote in RDCO elections to ensure they are represented at all levels. Residents are additionally able to vote for the Zone 2 School Trustee through the RDCO.
