Programs and Services

In addition to other programs and services available, such as membership services, health and wellness, housing, education and training, and recreation, there are specific services and programs available to Westbank First Nation Elders.

Elders group

When: First Tuesday of the month
Where: Elders Hall, 3255D Shannon Lake Rd, Westbank, BC
Open to: Any WFN Member who is at least 55 years of age.

The Elders Group provides a venue for WFN Elders to meet and discuss issues of mutual interest, socialize with each other and engage in traditional Okanagan practices. Meetings are followed by a healthy luncheon.

 

Elders emergency housing repair grant

This service benefits WFN Elders who are on limited income or have become disabled and are in need of an emergency repair of their home in order to maintain a safe living environment. With limited funding, repairs are prioritized first by need and safety. Applications may be filled out with the Elder Coordinator to start the process.

Examples of emergency housing repairs:

  • Water leakage
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Furnace malfunction
  • Hot water take malfunction
  • Roof repairs
  • Septic malfunction

 

Other services

  • Residential garbage collection
  • Snowplowing of driveway
  • Lawn mowing
  • Providing fire wood to heat the home
